TALLHEDA at National Conference and Scientific Panels in Serbia!

The TALLHEDA project made a significant impact in December 2024 by actively participating in key events focused on soil quality and sustainability. These activities underscored the project’s commitment to fostering education, awareness, and collaboration in the field of digital agriculture and environmental protection.

National Conference in Novi Sad

On December 6, 2024, TALLHEDA was presented at the national conference titled "Soil Quality of Vojvodina - The Importance of Production Diversification for Soil Conservation". The conference, held at the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Novi Sad, gathered experts, researchers, and practitioners to discuss strategies for preserving soil quality in Vojvodina.

During the event, the TALLHEDA team highlighted the project's objectives and achievements, showcasing its role in advancing digital agriculture education and sustainable practices. Additionally, results from the LOESS project were shared, alongside opportunities for future collaboration with researchers, educators, and activists dedicated to soil protection.

Scientific Panels in Belgrade

Later in December, two out of three scientific panels dedicated to soil conservation were held at the Science Club of the Center in Belgrade. These panels were organized in collaboration with relevant faculties and students engaged in soil science and related disciplines.

Panel 1: "Soil – The Skin of Planet Earth"

The first panel, held on December 23, 2024, was organized in partnership with the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Belgrade. It focused on the vital role of soil in sustaining life on Earth, exploring its functions, threats, and strategies for protection.

Panel 2: "What Future Are We Building on the Soil We Are Losing?"

The second panel, held on December 26, 2024, was organized in collaboration with the Faculty of Forestry, University of Belgrade. Discussions centered on the challenges of soil degradation and the urgent need for sustainable land management practices to secure a better future.

Both panels featured expert moderators and panelists who engaged in lively discussions with an audience of over 60 participants. In addition to the in-person attendees, the events were streamed live online, reaching a broader audience. Recordings of these discussions are available on the Center’s YouTube channel for those who missed the live sessions.

World Soil Day Celebration

Earlier in the month, on December 6, 2024, the Center also participated in the scientific conference at the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Novi Sad, organized in honor of World Soil Day. This event provided a platform to present the progress of the LOESS project and discuss opportunities for collaboration with experts in soil science and environmental conservation.

Looking Ahead

Through these engagements, TALLHEDA continues to strengthen its role in fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and promoting innovative solutions for sustainable agriculture and environmental protection. By connecting with experts, educators, and students, the project is laying the groundwork for impactful initiatives that address critical challenges in soil conservation and digital agriculture.
