The TALLHEDA project was represented at the IISA 2025 Conference, held from 10 to 12 July 2025 on the Island of Lesbos, Mytilene, through an oral presentation of the paper:
“Emerging Blockchain & Distributed Ledger Technologies in Digital Agriculture – Perspectives in the AI Era and Challenges.”
The presentation explored the role of blockchain and distributed ledger technologies (DLTs) in transforming the agricultural sector, emphasizing their potential to enhance traceability, transparency, and efficiency across supply chains. Special attention was given to the integration of these technologies with Artificial Intelligence (AI), highlighting how data-driven approaches can support precision agriculture, decision-making, and risk management.
In addition to outlining the opportunities offered by blockchain and DLTs, the paper also addressed current challenges, including technological adoption barriers, interoperability issues, and regulatory considerations, offering insights into strategies for overcoming these obstacles in modern farming systems.
Participation in IISA 2025 allowed the TALLHEDA team to engage with an international audience of researchers, technology experts, and agrifood professionals, fostering knowledge exchange and collaboration on innovative digital solutions for the agricultural sector.
The presentation aligns with TALLHEDA’s mission to promote digital transformation, innovation, and sustainable practices in agriculture, providing actionable insights for both academic and practical applications.
