TALLHEDA Brainstorming Visit at the Agricultural University of Athens: A Resounding Success!

From December 3rd to 5th, 2024, the Agricultural University of Athens (AUA) hosted a highly successful TALLHEDA brainstorming visit, bringing together experts, researchers, and academics from Greece, Serbia, Belgium, and beyond. The event, part of the Horizon Europe TALLHEDA project, focused on advancing Digital Agriculture through collaboration and innovation, aligning with the project’s goal of building long-term alliances between Higher Education Institutes and fostering the Quadruple Helix of innovation.


📅 Event Highlights and Agenda

The three-day event featured insightful lectures, interactive sessions, and networking opportunities designed to enhance capacity building and foster interdisciplinary research and teaching in Digital Agriculture.


Day 1: Tuesday, December 3rd, 2024

The event began with a warm welcome by Prof. C. Costopoulou, Director of the Informatics Laboratory at AUA. Participants then dived into the evolving landscape of Digital Agriculture:

  • Blockchain and Distributed Ledger Technology (Lecture by REZOS)




  • Digital Twins for Startups and SMEs (Lecture by Food Scale Hub)


Day 2: Wednesday, December 4th, 2024

The second day focused on emerging technologies and practical applications:

  • AI and Data Analytics in Agriculture (Lecture by Ghent University)



  • Presentations on AUA’s Teaching and Learning Support Center and Precision Agriculture Equipment



  • A deep dive into Geospatial Technologies and GIS, led by Prof. D. Kalivas, with live demonstrations of case studies.




Day 3: Thursday, December 5th, 2024

The final day centered on consolidating the outcomes of the brainstorming sessions:

  • An open discussion facilitated an exchange of ideas on improving Digital Agriculture courses and research at AUA.

  • The event closed with reflections and remarks, setting the stage for the next steps in the TALLHEDA Alliance.
