TALLHEDA Joined Forces with FARMTOPIA!

Updated: Nov 5

The TALLHEDA and Farmtopia projects are pleased to announce their new partnership to promote accessible, sustainable digital farming across Europe. This collaboration aligns TALLHEDA’s mission to strengthen digital agriculture education and innovation ecosystems in Widening countries with Farmtopia’s vision of democratizing digital farming solutions for small-scale farmers across Europe.

The TALLHEDA project, a Horizon Europe initiative, seeks to build a long-lasting Alliance for Digital Agriculture by linking Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) from Greece and Serbia with leading agricultural universities and stakeholders in Belgium. The project’s goal is to enhance digital agriculture through academic excellence and stakeholder engagement, creating a skilled workforce and advancing the Quadruple Helix innovation model in Widening countries. This model integrates academia, industry, government, and civil society to drive a vibrant agricultural innovation ecosystem.

Farmtopia, also supported under Horizon Europe, is a three-year project running from September 2023 to August 2026. The initiative brings together 22 partners across 12 countries to address the gap in adoption of Agricultural Digital Solutions (ADSs), especially among Europe’s small farms. Farmtopia’s mission is to make digital farming solutions accessible, affordable, and effective for small-scale farmers, ultimately empowering them to improve their economic and environmental resilience. By the project’s conclusion, Farmtopia aims to provide validated ADSs to over 64,000 small farms.

Together, TALLHEDA and Farmtopia are well-positioned to champion digital transformation in European agriculture. Their joint efforts will focus on enhancing accessibility, refining digital farming tools, and fostering a supportive ecosystem that connects research, technology, and practice for the benefit of small and medium-sized farms across Europe. This alliance also underscores a shared commitment to a more inclusive, sustainable, and competitive agricultural sector for the region.

As both projects progress, updates on Sustainable Innovation Pilots (SIPs), new digital farming tools, and project milestones will be shared on their respective websites. By working in tandem, TALLHEDA and Farmtopia aim to set a new standard for collaborative innovation in European agriculture.
