Smart Agro Hub proudly represented the TALLHEDA project at the 31st Agrotica International Exhibition, held from 12 to 15 March 2026 at the Thessaloniki International Exhibition & Congress Center. One of the three largest agricultural exhibitions in Europe, Agrotica 2026 welcomed 1,520 exhibitors from 42 countries across 38,000 m² of net exhibition space, recording a 49% increase in foreign participations compared to the previous edition — a record performance since the fair's establishment in 1985.
TALLHEDA's presence at the exhibition provided a valuable opportunity to introduce the project's work on digital agriculture skills, citizen science, and Higher Education Institution capacity building to a broad audience of farmers, agronomists, researchers, industry professionals, and policymakers gathered from across Greece, the Balkans, and beyond. The exhibition served as a platform for networking and knowledge production, with a dynamic parallel events programme and B2B meetings bringing together the full spectrum of the agricultural sector.
Smart Agro Hub used the occasion to share TALLHEDA's vision of building alliances between Higher Education Institutions and agricultural communities in widening regions — demonstrating how participatory approaches, standardised citizen science protocols, and digital tools can bridge the gap between research excellence and on-the-ground farming practice. The event was also an opportunity to raise awareness of TALLHEDA's deliverables among potential collaborators and stakeholders active in precision agriculture, digital transformation, and agri-food innovation.
Agrotica 2026 reinforced the relevance of TALLHEDA's mission in a context of growing demand for digital agriculture solutions across Southern and Eastern Europe. The conversations held at the exhibition — with farmers, technology providers, extension services, and university partners — reflect the very ecosystem that TALLHEDA seeks to strengthen through education, data-driven participation, and institutional cooperation.
