Fifteen children aged 4 to 6 at the "Pčelica" Preschool Institution explored the future of farming — and offered ideas their parents' generation hadn't considered.
A Classroom Rooted in the Field
As part of the TALLHEDA project, a creative workshop on smart farming was held at the "Pčelica" Preschool Institution, Voganj village branch, for a group of 15 children aged 4 to 6. Through play-based and hands-on activities, the children explored how modern technology can help improve life and work on a farm.
The location was chosen purposefully — a rural area where children are already familiar with agriculture through their families. This setting gave the workshop a unique depth, as the children approached the topic with firsthand knowledge and a fresh perspective.
Building, Simulating, Imagining
The program included building a mini greenhouse, simulating smart irrigation and animal feeding systems, and designing their own "smart farms" through drawing. The children showed exceptional creativity and, during the final discussion, offered constructive ideas to solve real problems their parents face in farming.
"Their openness, imagination, and awareness of agricultural challenges proved that involving children more often in conversations about sustainability and innovation can lead to truly inspiring results."
The Youngest Voices in the Room
This workshop highlighted how even the youngest voices can bring out-of-the-box thinking to serious topics. Their openness, imagination, and awareness of agricultural challenges proved that involving children more often in conversations about sustainability and innovation can lead to truly inspiring results.
Let's keep asking them: "How would you solve this?"
